Awards and Honours

Every year, the Fondation du CHUM confers awards on people who have invested themselves in the CHUM, in recognition of their exceptional contributions. Over the years, it has honoured employees, physicians, volunteers and teams in a variety of categories.

The palliative care team, Hôtel-Dieu of the CHUM: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM highlighted the remarkable devotion of four women who
accompany dying patients.

Ronald Cinq-Mars: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM recognized Ronald Cinq-Mars, a true guardian angel who has volunteered at the long-term care unit of Hôpital Saint-Luc for almost ten years.

Guy Marsolais: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM recognized a volunteer that every organization dreams of.

Jean-Marie Dumesnil: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM paid homage to the remarkable contribution of this man who devotes hundreds of hours per year in volunteer work for the well-being of patients.

Dr. Pierre Drouin: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM rewarded a compassionate man of science who defends the cause of women suffering from a gynecological cancer.

Dr. Pierre Daloze: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM was proud to honour this pioneer of transplantation in Québec.

Dr. Patrick D’Amico: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM expressed its appreciation of this physician, named “Professor of the Year” several
times by his students.

Dr. Pavel Hamet, the researcher: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM created an out-of-category award. Its first winner has distinguished himself as a researcher, physician
and researcher.

Technological shift at the pharmacy: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM gave recognition to the will and determination of all those who took part in the colossal job of implementing a one-of-a-kind medication dispensing method.

Oacis team: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM was impressed by the tremendous work of a team that successfully met the challenge of implementing a clinical information system.

Archive management: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM recognized the significance of an initiative that led to savings of thousands of dollars.

Dr. Renée Lévesque and her team: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM awarded the team that implemented the technique of high-efficiency on-line hemodiafiltration using ultrapurified water.

The designated instructor nurses: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM presented an award to the elite nurses who put together an initiative for which patients are the primary beneficiaries.

Radio-oncology team: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM was impressed by the perseverance of the radio-oncology team, who work unceasingly for the well-being of patients.

ALPHA/birth centre team: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM awarded
a prize to this team that adapted a screening tool for social problems related to maternity to the Québec context.

Preventive cardiology team: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM
had no hesitation in bestowing an award on a CHUM team that is
a model of success.

Dr. Paul Perrotte’s multidisciplinary team: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM recognized this team, which has been raising men’s awareness of the importance of getting screened for prostate cancer.

Dr. Marie-Dominique Beaulieu: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM bestowed an award on this general practitioner at the family medicine clinic of the CHUM and holder of the Docteur Sadok Besrour Chair in family medicine.

Dr. François Lespérance: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM highlighted the remarkable contribution of a psychiatrist who has no hesitation in taking the path less travelled.

Dr. Louise Samson: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM acknowledged the first woman to hold the position of President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Drs. Denis Marleau and Réal Lapointe: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM bestowed an award on both physicians, who have set up a specialized liver transplant team.

Marthyne Brazeau: In 2009, the Fondation du CHUM gave an award to a committed audiologist and excellent popularizer, has contributed in multiple ways to moving her profession forward.

Molecular pathology laboratory team: In 2008, the Fondation du CHUM presented an award to a team that is a model of consistency and excellence every day.

Dominique Louise Prud’homme: In 2006, the Fondation du CHUM highlighted
the range and quality of this speech therapy pioneer’s achievements.

Doris St-Pierre Lafond: In 2007, the Fondation du CHUM acknowledged this speech therapist for her leadership, her dynamism and her contribution to raising the profile of the CHUM.
